Following a successful first month in Gloversville and Utica, New York, the Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers are currently fundraising for another anti-crime kiosk, according to The Leader Herald.
The kiosk, which was installed at City Hall in early March, displays information on wanted criminals, features high-profile unsolved crimes, gives health and safety tips, lists weather information and provides messages by local officials.
The system features smartphone QR codes that allow access to the Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers app and a tip page. Tips are anonymous and can lead to a cash reward.
Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers allows people to make fully anonymous tips that are then passed along to law enforcement. These tips can also result in cash rewards.
Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers Executive Director James Glorioso said the first day the kiosk went up, someone saw his face being displayed on the kiosks through a report on a news channel and called the police to turn himself in.
