GLEN ELLYN, Ill. -- Storm Data Entry Technology says that its keyboards were recently registered on the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Web site as compliant data entry devices, confirming the keyboards' suitability for safe installation into systems destined for public use.
According to a news release, Storm subjected its products and manufacturing processes to an independent inspection by UL personnel to earn the approval to UL Standard 60950. The process must be repeated on an annual basis to retain the certification.
Compliance to European Community (EC) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC)standards for emissions and immunity has long been an important part of Storm keyboards' specification list, according to the release. Storm is also audited by the British Standards Institution for compliance and certification as an ISO 9001-2000 company.
According to the release, Storm keyboards are used in kiosks manufactured by NCR, IBM, HP and Fujitsu, among other companies.
