SALEM, Ore. --Cascade Computer Maintenance Inc.(CCM)will put in place this August the final phase of 119 kiosks developed for the state of Oregon employment department.
The kiosk enclosure is a second-generation kiosk that follows up on the award-winning unit the state has used since 1989 in employment offices and remote locations statewide.
CCM has been the state of Oregon's computer maintenance provider since 1994. The new units were developed closely with kiosk manufacturer METALfx, which did the turnkey design, engineering and integration of the enclosure. The 119 units include Elo TouchSystems touch monitors, Telpar thermal kiosk printers and Nashua Corp. thermal paper.
Don Kerzel, CCM's director of sales and marketing, said, "This kiosk project is a success because of our rapid statewide service and install capability combined with METALfx's unique kiosk design and integration solutions."
Tom Fuller, communications manager for the state of Oregon employment department, said, "CCM and METALfx were flexible and responsive to our needs. They found out what we were looking for and then quickly provided the product. When changes were necessary they were done accurately and on time."
METALfx sales manager Ben Wheeler said his company met with people from the Oregon employment department at KioskCom in Las Vegas. METALfx did not pursue the project originally because of "copious maintenance requirements."
When CCM got involved, however, Wheeler said he realized that the "hands-on experience and logistical closeness of Cascade made all the sense in the world."
