FOSTER CITY, Calif. - Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., and ESPN are teaming up to give fans at this year's ESPN Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo., a reason to come in from the cold.
As part of Sony's role as an associate sponsor of the sixth annual extreme winter sports events competition, the company will deploy kiosks throughout Winter X Games locations in Aspen. Fans will be able to play Sony PlayStation2 games on the kiosks.
The kiosks will be located at the VIP and athlete lounges, welcome center, volunteer registration center, media center, athlete registration area, and booth festival locations. Among the games included on the kiosks are Gran Turismo 3, 989 Sports's NFL GameDay 2002, Jak and Daxter, and Cool Boarders 2001.
Sony officials said the kiosks allow them to directly reach the company's target audience.
"ESPN and PlayStation both enjoy a similar fan base that likes to be involved while enjoying the best in sports activities," Ami Blaire, Sony director of product marketing, said in a news release.
