After replacing 800 coin-operated parking meters with 55 solar-powered kiosks two years ago, the city of Binghamton, New York, has witnessed a significant revenue gain and fewer maintenance issues, according to the Press & Sun Bulletin.
Since installing the kiosks, revenue increased from $276,674 in 2016 to $342,678 the first year. In 2018, revenue increased to $447,835, marking a 62 percent increase over 2016.
The new kiosks accept cash, credit cards the WOOSH mobile app.
