SMO expanding airport kiosk lines

March 19, 2002

NEW YORK - SMO Multimedia Corp. (Pink Sheets:SMOC), which has spent the past year developing a line of information and assistance kiosks for airports and shopping malls, displayed its latest kiosk during a presentation at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on March 19.

The new kiosk is designed to replace hotel reservation and pickup systems currently in place at baggage areas in major airports. The kiosk features an IP/over system that allows hotel employees and drivers to speak with guests directly at the airport. The IP/over system replaces phone handsets currently at use in these systems, and the kiosk features a video camera so hotels can identify guests before sending out drivers to pick them up.

SMO chief executive officer Robert Pratt also used the presentation to showcase the company's E-Station kiosks. Designed for use in airports and shopping malls, the E-Station line offers directions and store information, coupon printing, and access to store loyalty programs.

Pratt said "several airlines and airports" were interested in the technologies he showcased but did not mention any specifics.

In other news, SMO announced that it has ended its relationship with Dallas-based investment firm The Pickens Group LP. The company entered into an engagement letter with Pickens Group affiliate Pickens Venture Partners in January (See story: SMO taps into Pickens Group for assistance). No further details were announced.
