CALGARY, Alberta - SMART Technologies Inc. announced its sponsorship of the 2004 CIBC Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup held November 27 to December 5, 2004.
While Canada hosts the world's top male and female downhill and super G racers in Lake Louise, SMART is providing the official interactive information kiosk in the main lobby of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, the event headquarters. SMART's interactive digital signage gives World Cup spectators, race participants and visitors access to real-time race results, athlete biographies, event details and more, according to a news release.
SMART's interactive overlay is combined with a large plasma or LCD display to create a kiosk that is both highly visible and interactive. The overlay fastens easily and securely to 17 popular brands of flat-panel displays and preserves their crisp, bright image. When connected to a computer, the kiosk becomes a uniquely customizable information hub. Simply by touching the display, users can access and control whatever information they choose. SMART's interactive digital signage is ideal in retail stores, hotels, trade shows, airports, museums, lobbies and other public or semi-public venues. The overlays come in screen sizes ranging from 37 inches to 63 inches (94-160 cm).
"Sporting events by their very nature are fast paced and action packed, generating news and results by the minute," says Nancy Knowlton, SMART's president and co-CEO. "SMART's sponsorship of the CIBC Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup demonstrates the popular demand for interactive digital signage in these environments."
"The CIBC Lake Louise Winterstart Race Organizing Committee and Alpine Canada Alpin continuously seek to enhance the visitors' on-hill and off-hill experiences," says Ken Read, president of Alpine Canada Alpin. "Thanks to the continuing support from SMART, we are able to provide World Cup guests with a technologically advanced yet user-friendly tool, which facilitates access to information about our event."
