Smaller-grossing embargoed movies appear absent from redbox

December 29, 2009

Two smaller-grossing films released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment were absent during a recent spot check of more than 100 redbox kiosks, according to Home Media magazine.

An industry analyst suggested that the movies' absence was related to the films' poor performance at the box office, with ticket sales of just over $30 million for both, according to the magazine.

Fox is one of the studios that have embargoed sales of new releases to DVD-rental-kiosk companies for 28 or more days from release, which redbox is litigating.
