Singapore pulls plug on airport kiosks

December 12, 2011

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has removed check-in kiosks at Changi Airport.

The airline recently pulled the plug on its 24 machines, citing low usage. More travelers are using Internet or mobile check-in, according to the Straits Times.

Passengers could also check their own bags by dropping them at stipulated counters for loading onto the aircraft. The entire process took about five minutes, compared to eight to 10 minutes for a counter check-in.
