Try Leh, a Singapore company, has introduced vending machines which showcase products and allow consumers to redeem samples, according to a press release.
The concept, dubbed "tryvertising," allows brands to showcase up to 12 items from which consumers may redeem samples. The user needs to create an account online to gain credit to redeem samples such as beauty products, pet food and service vouchers.
Once they select their sample, the system will send a QR code to the consumer's mobile phone in WhatsApp. They then scan the QR code and the machine dispenses the sample.
The company has deployed machines in five Singapore locations.
"Try Leh aims to work with the most user-conscious and generous brands in Singapore to help them reach the right consumers with a tangible sample that speaks to these brands' quality itself," Li Ling, business development manager at Try Leh, said in the press release.
Users receive coins when they sign up, and two additional coins every Sunday as long as they continue to redeem samples.
The coins cannot be carried forward to the next week and must be used before the next Sunday.
Sample stock availability is updated online so the users can see if the sample they are trying to redeem is available and in-stock before they redeem it.
Try Leh limits sample redemptions to one product per consumer and two samples per week.
