A pair of Singapore entrepreneurs have established a medical self-serve kiosk that offers pharmaceuticals and teleconsultation called SmartRx, according to a Vulcan Post report.

Partners Tong Ping Heng and Bennet Lee have developed a machine that meets the safety and flexibility standards required for handling both pharmacy-only medicine and prescription-only medication.

The specific medicines available are determined by SmartRx's clinical partners, such as Essentials Pharmacy.

The machine's teleconsultation feature enables real-time interaction between users and doctors or pharmacists.

Patients can register to use the machine through an app and utilize vital signs devices such as blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters and thermometers during consultations. Following a consultation, patients can collect their prescriptions from the machine immediately.

The system also includes inventory management and the ability to track the medication packs dispensed.

SmartRx has five machines across Singapore with plans to roll out an additional 20 to 50 nationwide by the end of the year.
