The Smart Nation and Digital Government Group and Temasek Foundation in Singapore have partnered to install vending machines that offer replacement TraceTogether tokens for COVID-19 contract tracing, according to a channelnewasia.com report.

The first two machines were installed at malls today and more will be installed at a total 100 malls and community clubs in the coming months.

People can replace tokens that are more than four months old at the machines, which hold 1,400 new tokens.

Users must bring an identity card and an old token to use the machine. They then scan a QR code on their old token and retrieve a new device and drop off the old one in a slot.

Users can check if the replacement token works by tapping the SafeEntry Gateway box on the side of the vending machine, which emits a beep and green light if it is working.

The replacement tokens are not for first time token users.
