Shore's patients to surf health info

March 17, 2002

SHREWSBURY, N.J. - Shore Health Group PA, a medical services group of 48 physicians in 26 offices, has ordered 25 e-station kiosks from Helios Ventures Inc.

The kiosks, which are installed and maintained free of charge to doctors and hospitals, provide information about diseases and drugs to patients.

According to a news release issued by HealthCare Integrated Services Inc., Helios Ventures is a joint venture formed last month by HealthCare Integrated Services Inc. (AMEX: HII), MedicalEdge Technologies Inc., and IntelliCom International Ltd. The companies bought the e-station kiosks in August from Helios Health Inc. Helios filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in May (see "The business died, but Helios Health's assets live on").

Barry Crescenzi, director of business development for HII, told KIOSKmarketplace.com in August that the new owners plan to make the kiosks profitable through revenues derived from pharmaceutical sponsorships. He said that the companies will also use the kiosks to recruit patients for clinical research trials.

According to the release, both HealthCare Integrated Services and the Shore Health Group run clinical research trials sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organizations and makers of medical devices.

Crescenzi said that HII purchased from Helios Health 1,381 kiosks, servers, the Web site www.helioshealth.com and other computer equipment to run the network.

HealthCare Integrated Services also specializes in diagnostic imaging and physician management and consulting services in New Jersey. Its medical Web site, CliniCure.com, provides outreach for clinical research trials by physicians, universities, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies.

The company is finalizing plans to merge with MedicalEdge, one of the other companies in the Helios Ventures joint venture, the release stated.
