BURNABY, British Columbia, Canada - Landing a strategic partnership with a major computer manufacturer has landed Info Touch Technologies Corp. (CDNX:IFT) president and chief executive officer Hamed Shahbazi on a list of Vancouver's leading young entrepreneurs.
Shahbazi, 27, earned a spot on the 2001 40 Under 40 list published by Business in Vancouver magazine. The list honors the top business leaders under the age of 40 in the Vancouver area.
In citing Shahbazi, the magazine noted Info Touch's deal with Compaq Canada Corp., reached in September of 2001. Compaq invested about $500,000 in the kiosk development company and will develop marketing initiatives with Info Touch (See story: Info Touch, Compaq Canada join forces).
Info Touch is also working with Phillips 66 Co. to deploy information and services kiosks in Circle K convenience stores in the Phoenix area. If the program goes national as expected in 2002, as many as 1,200 kiosks will be deployed. The company recently announced record revenues for the first quarter of fiscal year 2002 (See story: Info Touch pleased with first-quarter results).
"It was just a matter of time that we thought the kiosk would play a big role in (commerce) and it has and it will continue," Shahbazi told the magazine. "We felt it was part of making the Internet ubiquitous."
[Editor's note: Info Touch Technologies became Tio Networks in April 2006.]
