The Seoul Metropolitan Government in South Korea has installed 440 kiosks that accept overseas credit cards at 273 stations across subway lines 1 through 8, according to the Chosun Daily. The deployment expands payment options for international travelers. The rollout was completed in a single day as part of an effort to improve accessibility and convenience across the transit system.

Previously, foreign-issued credit cards could not be used to purchase tickets or recharge transportation cards in Seoul subway stations, forcing visitors to rely on cash. The new kiosks eliminate that barrier, aligning the system with global digital payments standards and improving the overall passenger experience.
