Senior living management provider deploys touchscreen kiosks to improve security

Civitas Senior Living, a premier senior living management company based in Fort Worth, Texas, announced a companywide partnership with Accushield LLC to provide visitor risk management systems in all of its senior living communities.

The Accushield system utilizes a touchscreen kiosk that allows for rapid sign in and sign out, badging of all visitors and background checks for service providers, according to a press release. Civitas plans to complete the installation of the Accushield system in the first quarter of 2019.

Operating a senior living community has many unique security challenges, one of which is knowing when home health providers sign in and deciphering what care is delivered to the resident. The Accushield visitor management system comes with an online visitor dashboard that gives management an easy way to create resident care reports based on activity from private duty caregivers, home health and hospice, etc.

"Due to the name badges that the Accushield system provides, we can immediately know who is visiting our community and who hasn't checked in," David Brown, executive director at The Ridglea Senior Living in Fort Worth, Texas, said in the press release. "Through the use of the Accushield system, we will quickly enhance our reputation of having a higher level of security. This will, in turn, also help reduce the threat of someone entering our building to take advantage of or steal from a resident."
