Self-service kiosks could be financial savior for Michigan city

Grand Rapids, Mich., joins the growing list of local governments utilizing self-service kiosks to provide easier and more cost-effective access to certain government services. Two kiosks were installed last Friday at the City Hall, with plans for more around town, according to an article on Mlive.com. 

The units feature a touchscreen menu with options to pay water bills, parking tickets, property tax and fees, as well a portal for job applications.

The Grand Rapids City Commission approved the $9,188 cost of purchasing the kiosks last spring. City Manager Greg Sundstrom said in the article that customer self-service is the key to getting city finances in shape.
