WAmazing Inc., a Japan based online platform that offers snacks and convenience products for foreign tourists, has deployed vending machines offering duty-free products at Japanese airports and is expanding to more airports, according to a report in The Mainichi.
The company offers 6,900 items such as snacks, baby food, shampoos, cosmetics, detergents and more.
The website offers information in Chinese and English, targeting visitors from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The company has installed machines at Haneda Airport Terminal 3 Station in Tokyo, Nishitetsu Tenjin Expressway Bus Terminal in Fukuoka Prefecture, Central Japan International Airport Station near Nagoya, New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido and Kansai Airport Station in Osaka Prefecture.
Two more machines are expected at Airport Terminal 2 Station and Narita Airport Station by March.
Orders must be placed at least three days in advance. Users scan a QR code on the machine and are verified via facial recognition and passport data.
The company said it plans to install the duty-free vending machines at all international airports in Japan.
