More retail enterprises are embracing self-checkout with 43% of retailers having mature systems in place and 17% expanding self-checkout deployments.
Those are top findings from a NCR Voyix study conducted by Incisiv.
The study, "State of the Industry: Self-Checkout in Convenience & Fuel and Food & Grocery Retail," revealed adoption rates vary by retail vertical — about half (53%) of retailers in the food and grocery segment have mature SCO adoption, compared to 34% of retailers in convenience and fuel. However, convenience and fuel retailers will likely catch up fast, with 37% piloting or scaling self-checkout deployments, according to a press release on the findings.
Retailers that have deployed self-checkout report benefits for both retailers and shoppers, including:
