Seiko launches new POS printer

June 12, 2012

Seiko Instruments has released a new line of receipt printers — The Qaliber RP-E Series — that offers print speeds of approximately 1.15 feet per second to accelerate transactions or allow users to add coupons or loyalty program information, according to a company press release. The printer also has the smallest footprint in its class and comes with a choice of standard and front-access control options to provide the flexibility to slide a printer under the counter, thereby simplifying integration, VP Kaz Onishi of Seiko Instruments USA, said in the release.

"Our partners are thrilled about the sleek new design and best-in-class performance of the Qaliber printer line," Onishi said. "This, combined with the printers' proven durability, make them an exceptional alternative for high-volume retail, hospitality and other receipt-printing applications."

Other important features of the Qaliber line, Onishi said, include:

  • Exceptional reliability and ease of use.
  • Service life ratings of a minimum of 93 miles of printing and more 2 million cuts, using the anti-jamming, heavy-duty auto-cutter.
  • Usability bolstered by a unique, over-sized LED that provides immediate notification of printer status.
  • And printer configuration made easier with a robust suite of software utilities, drivers and SDKs.

Units are available in onyx black and ice white and with USB, Serial, Powered USB or Ethernet interfaces. Command emulation is also provided to enable faster printer replacement.
