TORRANCE, Calif. - Seiko Instruments USA Inc.'s Micro Printer Division has a new printer that can be used in kiosks and runs on low power.
The LTPH243 thermal printer operates at three volts DC and incorporates an easy loading device called EZ-OP. Other EZ-OP printers are available that run on five and 24 volts DC.
The low power printer can also run on wireless devices, handheld terminals and point-of-sale equipment.
Changing paper in an EZ-OP printer works by depressing a lever to remove the platen, placing the paper in position, and snapping the platen back in place.
The LTPH243 thermal printer measures 76.8 mm wide by 38 mm deep by 16 mm high and weighs 46 grams. It uses a 58 mm wide paper. Print resolution is eight dots per mm and print speeds run at 30, 40.5 or 55 mm per second depending on operating voltage. Available immediately, the LTPH243 is priced at $229.
