Seiko expands printer mechanism line

February 18, 2002

TORRANCE, Calif. - Addressing a need for faster print speeds, Seiko Instruments USA Inc.'s micro printer division on Jan. 3 unveiled two new additions to its line of EZ-OP thermal print mechanisms.

The new models, LTPF247 and LTPF347, include two- and three-inch paper width options, respectively, and can print at speeds of 220 millimeters per second. Seiko officials said those speeds represented a 300 percent increase over previous models. The new 24-volt print mechanisms are designed primarily for point-of-sale and kiosk applications.

"The EZ-OP line not only offers users an extremely easy paper-loading method with its simple lever control, but now also offers print speeds for the most demanding speed requirements," Bob Falco, Seiko director of sales and marketing, said in a news release.
