Seiko enters European kiosk market

NEU ISENBURG, Germany - Encouraged by the potential of the European kiosk market, peripheral manufacturer Seiko Instruments GmbHhas introduced a pair of thermal kiosk printers.

The KPUS347 and KPUS447 printers each include a paper roll holder, thermal printer, auto cutter, presenter, and interface, The KPUS347 is designed for speed (maximum print speed of 200 millimeters per second) and handling small receipts (paper width can range from 58 to 82.55 millimeters). The KPUS447 runs at a maximum of 150 millimeters per second, but can handle larger receipts, up to 112 millimeters.

Seiko officials said the printers were versatile and could be used in a variety of sectors, including financial, retail, and public access kiosks. The printer interface supports parallel, serial, or USB data transmissions.

Seiko's decision to introduce the printers is based on "continuous, dynamic growth of the European kiosk market" according to a company news release. Company officials did not discuss price points or deals involving the printers.
