SeePoint, MSI to get cozy with hospitality industry

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. -- Kiosk manufacturer SeePoint Technology, seeking an entry point into the hospitality industry, has entered an alliance with Multi-Systems Inc. (MSI) to create a line of hotel check-in and concierge kiosks.

The HotelPoint kiosk line will combine MSI's hospitality enterprise technology solutions with SeePoint's kiosk design and manufacturing experience. Based in Phoenix, MSI offers software solutions to the hospitality industries.

The kiosk utilizes a touchscreen, magstripe reader, and printer to offer hotel patrons a typical check-in experience. Guests swipe the magstripe with their credit cards when they check in. The kiosk creates a room key for the patron and prints out receipts and other hotel information. The terminal will also provide unspecified concierge services, according to a joint news release.

Officials from both companies said the technology would allow patrons to bypass long check-in lines. No hotel deals were disclosed in the press release.
