SeePoint kiosks connect public opinion to television shows

March 27, 2002

LAS VEGAS - From Survivorto a show yet to be named, Vegas visitors will use SeePoint Technology kiosks to tell CBS Television what they think of newly proposed or existing programming.

The new CBS Television City research center is located inside the MGM Grand Hotel. TV City features two screening rooms, each with large screen plasma displays and 25 countertop-mounted, interactive, touchscreen computer terminals designed and manufactured by SeePoint Technology of Torrance, Calif., a provider of interactive, Internet-ready, fully-integrated kiosk systems.

Visitors from Las Vegas' tourist base of 37 million annual visitors view a show from the plasma displays and react to the content from the individual terminals by responding to survey questions. Each SeePoint terminal is linked to the Internet, allowing CBS executives to track viewer response and author questionnaires from remote locations.

The Television City research center will be available to CBS and other Viacom-owned properties, including MTV, Nickelodeon and Showtime, for focus groups, tracking of public opinion on programming and promotions, and other research and development needs.

CBS also installed SeePoint's VantagePoint freestanding kiosks in the Television City retail outlet. Consumers can purchase merchandise tied to various Viacom television networks and programming, and register to win a home theatre system, enabling CBS to collect additional demographic information from TV City visitors.

SeePoint also announced that San Francisco Airport's new International Terminal will feature SeePoint Technology's CounterPoint countertop kiosks. The kiosks will provide travelers with information about airport services, including gate locations, rental cars, airport rail services, and restaurants and retail stores located in the terminal.
