MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.-- Twingo Systems Inc., provider of secure desktop solutions for the enterprise, has announced general availability of Twingo, security software that protects organizations from security risks resulting from remote access to enterprise data via "untrusted computers;" computers at airports, cyber cafes and home computers not controlled and managed by the enterprise.
In the past year, a growing number of businesses and public-computer providers have grown concerned over the security and privacy risks posed by untrusted computers, according to a news release.
"As the number of individuals who use public Internet kiosks in cafes, at conferences and elsewhere increases, the greater the security risk and the greater the need for the Twingo solutions," said Chris Shipley, executive producer of the DEMO Conferences. "Many kiosks users don't realize how much data they leave behind, or the potential exposure to malicious code that can infiltrate their enterprise networks from that kiosk data. Twingo provides a safe, unobtrusive environment that protects both users and their employers from these hazards."
"The risks of working with untrusted computers are easy to illustrate in public venues, where a growing number of enterprise employees use kiosks to connect to their enterprise networks," said Reza Malekzadeh, co-founder and president of Twingo Systems.
"Enterprises and their employees run the same risks whenever they log onto an untrusted computer at a copy shop, cyber cafe, or from their home."
Using Twingo, a user can work at any third-party computer without leaving any data behind after the session ends. Twingo enables users to customize their temporary session and work in a known environment by restoring their settings and data files. This allows for a greater level of productivity when using third-party computers, the release said. Pricing was not disclosed.
