Santa Monica taps wayfinding provider for interactive kiosks

Residents of and visitors to Santa Monica, California will have access to interactive wayfinding and out-of-home advertising under an agreement the city has made with a wayfinding provider, Big Outdoor, according to a press release.

Santa Monica City Council approved a franchise agreement with Big Outdoor to enhance public safety via emergency capabilities, deliver community messaging and generate revenues to support city services and programs through advertising sales.

Deployment of the kiosk network would be structured as a franchise agreement for a 20-year term.

The agreement will generate a minimum of $5 million in revenue to the city annually and includes a one-time signing bonus of $4 million.
