TORONTO, Ontario -- SAMSys Technologies Inc. (SMY:TSX-VEN) ("SAMSys"), a provider of radio frequency identification (RFID) hardware solutions, announced it has signed an agreement with Laguna, Calif.-based SafeTzone Technologies Corporation to use its technology in its kiosk-centered child-locating systems at amusement parks.
The tracking systems work like so:
Upon entering the park, visitors are given an RFID chip-embedded device about the size of a wristwatch. The device emits a signal tracked by RF readers positioned throughout the park, and that allows the location of any individual to be pinpointed on LocationStation kiosks also distributed throughout the park.
The system is in operation at water parks such as Wet 'n Wild in Las Vegas, Nev., Wild Rivers in Irvine, Calif., and Dolly's Splash Country in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
"Our tracking system is simple to use, provides a safer environment and allows a richer, more fulfilling experience for family and friends when visiting an amusement park," said Timothy W. Giraldin, CEO of SafeTzone.
SafeTzone offers two other real-time systems, based on RFID technology, for amusement parks:
* The SafeTzone Cashless Spending Module eliminates the need for cash anywhere in the park by turning each SafeTzone Locator into an "electronic wallet."
* SafeTzone Line Management Module is an electronic line-management solution designed to reduce or eliminate wait-times associated with popular rides. The system is designed to embrace or replace existing line-management systems.
