Rural electric cooperative launches bill payment kiosk

November 15, 2004

DURANGO, Colo. - La Plata Electric Association, Inc. (LPEA) will launch its first kiosk to provide electronic prepay, bill pay and concierge services to cooperative members and community businesses. The solution was provided by Widefield LLC, Cities in Touch and KIS, according to a news release.

Benefits of the new solution include serving bill pay counter traffic more efficiently with kiosk payment locations, 24 hours, 7 days a week. Kiosk payments can be made by cash, debit card or through a checking account.

The kiosks make recharging prepaid electric smart cards (EZ Pay cards) more accessible and less dependent on open service hours. Customers have access to cash withdrawals with ATM functionality. Kiosk owners are offered a potential revenue stream with advertising and e-commerce options.
