Retailer Saks deploys NCR gift-registry kiosks

January 19, 2004

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Several retail banners of Saks Inc. one of the U.S.' most innovative fashion retailers, are deploying new business solutions from NCR Corp. to enhance the retailer's relationships with customers.

Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises (SFAE) is implementing the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) suite of applications from Teradata, a division of NCR, as part of its commitment to exceed the demands of its customers and extend their loyalty. In addition, four of Saks department store group properties are installing NCR EasyPoint kiosks to improve gift registry shopping and real-time customer interaction, according to a news release.

The Teradata data warehouse at Saks provides a common link for procurement and marketing activities, enables enterprise gross profit reporting and delivers added data collection and gross profit reporting capabilities.

Using NCR touchscreen kiosks, shoppers can access Saks' online Celebration Wedding & Gift Registry while visiting select stores. The NCR EasyPoint kiosks make it easy to create a new registry or to view and print a registrant's gift preferences. Customers can purchase gifts at a store checkout station, or they can use the kiosk to place an order for shipment to the registrant, the release said.

NCR EasyPoint kiosks have been installed in nearly 100 Carson Pirie Scott, Herberger's, Boston and Bergner's stores located throughout the central United States.
