Will the pandemic jumpstart the use of AI in health assessment technology, including self service devices?
Preet Gandhi, who has a masters in global health from McMaster University, and Josh Britton, a medical student at the University of Saskatchewan, said it is possible to get medical advice from a vending machine. They made the comments during a podcast, "Sicker Than Your Average Show," according to a CBC Radio Canada report.
David Gerhard, head of the department of computer science at the University of Regina, said healthcare artificial intelligence and robotics can already perform basic medical tasks like diagnosing symptoms or using AI.
The machine can dispense medications and instructions, while AI-enabled humanoid robots could also deliver health care, according to the report.
The pandemic is also driving advancements like developing robots to deliver care in the home, or interacts with people who are in isolation.
