HERNDON, Va. - Customers using kiosks at two major car rental companies will be able to pick up phone cards along with their cars.
ePHONE Telecom Inc.'s (OTCBB:EPHO) new ePHONE calling cards will be available at kiosks in 240 National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car airport locations this fall. Michael Han, ePHONE's chief strategy officer, said that prepaid calling cards are attractive to travelers because of high hotel long distance and cellular roaming charges.
Alamo is aggressively marketing customer service kiosks by offering Delta SkyMiles at Its Quicksilver rental kiosks through July 18. The car rental company installed another system, called Fun Finder kiosks, so customers could look up hotels, restaurants and other travel information. Fun Finder kiosks were designed by Apunix.
In addition to Alamo and National, Dollar Rent A Car has deployed kiosks. Dollar Travel Centers give customers travel information at Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Miami, Las Vegas and Los Angeles airports. Miami's Official Kiosk Group Inc. created the Dollar Travel Center.
ePHONE Telecom sells long distance calling at competitive prices via local access numbers and devices that connect customers with ePHONE's network. The network is built on an open standards-based Internet Protocol gateway technology.
