Redbox testing DVD-rental kiosks in public libraries
May 7, 2010
AZCentral.comreports that DVD-rental kiosk developer redbox is deploying kiosks in public libraries around the country to test the viability of that market. According to the report, which focuses on redbox's deployment in Surprise, Ariz., the DVD-rental company is testing library partnerships in 10 markets throughout the nation.
Libraries in the program receive three percent of the kiosks' pre-tax revenue, which the report says will be used to fund library operations.
Neither the report, nor redbox's website, provide a date for when – or if – the program will be rolled out beyond the test markets.
