Redbox hits two million rental mark on NYE

Redbox this week announced it surpassed the 2 million rental mark on New Year's Eve.

Hitting the 2 million mark surpasses the company's previous one-day rental record by more than 170,000, according to a release from redbox.

The DVD-rental kiosk industry leader says it has more than 19,000 rental locations nationwide, which works out to more than 100 rentals per kiosk on New Year's Eve alone.

"District 9," "G-Force," "Paranormal Activity" and "Julie & Julia" were some of the top rentals on New Year's Eve. For the year, redbox went over the 350 million mark in rentals nationwide.
