Redbox free movie rental promo turns Facebook into ‘friend' frenzy

According to Home Media Magazine, redbox attracted nearly 1 million "friends" to its Facebook fan page as part of a rental promotion for free movies.
The redbox campaign entailed the user being a member of Facebook, and required using a credit card when renting a movie. If users failed to return before the daily deadline they were charged the regular daily rental rate ($1 plus tax). Reviews of the promotion were mixed, with both "like" and "dislike" comments posted on the fan page.
