Redbox announces distribution agreement with Universal
April 26, 2010
DVD-rental kiosk provider redbox announced this week that it has reached a distribution agreement with Universal Studios for the timing of new releases from the studio.
The agreement allows redbox to offer for rental DVD and Blu-Ray titles 28 days after their release date. The agreement, which a redbox press release says ends a dispute between the parties, parallels an agreement redbox settled with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment this week.
The first release covered under the new agreement is the comedy "It's Complicated," which Universal will directly supply to redbox 28 days after the film's April 27 street date.
