Recent amendment increases Wizzard's speech-enabled software sales

December 11, 2002

PITTSBURGH - Wizzard Software announced on Dec. 12 that 15 new clients will use its speech technology software in kiosks, ATMs and other devices in response to the Rehabilitation Act amendment, according to a Business Wire release.

The Pittsburgh-based company said its clients, including the Rochester Institute of Technology, the University of Missouri, California State University and GE Medical Systems, will use speech-enabled software applications to enable computers, kiosks and other devices to communicate with users in a human-like voice.

The U.S. Congress' recent amendment to the Rehabilitation Act (508) requires federal agencies to make electronic and information technology more accessible to people with disabilities including visual impairments.
