Radiant's cinema kiosk comes with popcorn, too

March 18, 2004

You'll never be late for the start of your movie if Radiant Systems Inc. has anything to do with it.

With Radiant's newly introduced concession kiosk solution, moviegoers can order their popcorn and drink at the same self-service machine that sells them tickets. Film buffs punch in their order and get food and drink receipts to present at a concession express station.

The concession kiosk has been tested successfully by Muvico Theatres at the Muvico Egyptian 24 megaplex in Baltimore. Gregg Ackerman, the theater's director of information technology, is enthused about Radiant's new offering.

"By providing concession and movie-ticket sales through kiosks, we can enhance the movie-going experience for guests and build strong loyalty through convenient purchases and pick-up of concession items," Ackerman said in a press release. "The higher visibility, self-service capabilities, and consistent promotion of key items can help us increase concession sales, margins and guest satisfaction."

"The concession line remains the most frustrating experience for patrons," said Chris Lybeer, president of the Radiant Entertainment Division. "We expect that this solution will be a real differentiator for the theaters that are aggressive in looking for unique ways to improve both the patron experience and their per-cap figures."
