Radiant kiosks order up meals at Sheetz stores

ATLANTA -- When Sheetz, Inc. introduced its first food-only operation in late November at the Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem, N.C., customers experienced something new when ordering their food - they placed their orders through self-service kiosks from Radiant Systems Inc.

In introducing its food offerings, as well as its gourmet coffee concept to a new market, Sheetz is utilizing the self-service food ordering system that has helped the company differentiate its brand and grow revenue in its successful convenience store operations.

Radiant's solution for Sheetz, featuring the popular kiosks, is an integrated end-to-end store management system that includes Radiant's point-of-sale and back-office technology, according to a news release.

"Our new concepts are designed to introduce our brand in a new market, build awareness, and earn loyal customers," said Stan Sheetz, president and chief executive officer of Sheetz, in a news release. "Radiant's kiosks are a major part of our brand. The technology helps attract customers, and helps us serve them well through easy and accurate ordering."

Sheetz uses Radiant's self-service kiosks as the centerpiece of its award-winning Made-to-Order food program, which offers fresh customized subs, sandwiches, burgers and salads. The kiosks help Sheetz effectively promote new products and suggest upsells with a consistency that is difficult for cashiers and order takers to match, according to the release.

The system also enables more successful product rollouts, waste reduction, and more efficient use of labor. In addition, an integrated kitchen production system, which prompts staff to quickly prepare customers' orders, delivers greatly enhanced speed of service. The result is more satisfied customers and additional revenue per customer.

Sheetz' new concepts also utilize Radiant's back-office system, which will help Sheetz to centrally manage multiple sites.
