Prizm turns to MEI for help in luring retail customers

August 14, 2002

WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- Cash payment systems developer MEI is working with public-access information provider Prizm Technology Inc. on kiosks that allow cellular customers to top up their phones.

MEI's AE2600 and ZT1200 cash acceptors are being utilized in Prizm's TOP-UP kiosks. The kiosks are intended to go in high-traffic retail areas, such as shopping malls and convenience stores. The current generation of TOP-UP machines will offer prepaid cellular and Internet minutes, while future machines may provide bill-payment services and cellular accessories.

Prizm officials anticipate deploying as many as 500 TOP-UP units before the end of the year, with another 2,000 units going out in 2003.

Based in West Chester, Pa., MEI manufactures electronic bill acceptors, coin changers, and other electronic payment systems for the vending industry.
