Prison MP3 and media kiosks hit 1 million downloads
July 15, 2010
Since launching in April, 2009, the Access Corrections MP3 and Media Program kiosks have reached 1 million downloads. The program has been implemented in six state-wide corrections departments of Corrections, includingMichigan,Arkansas,Idaho,Mississippi,OklahomaandOhio. More than 140,000 inmates are using the MP3 and Media service kiosk.
Inmates can access nearly all functions directly through the MP3 player, minimizing kiosk interaction to an average of two-and-a-half minutes.
The kiosk was designed to accommodate as many as four users at one time. Inmates can use the system without any supervision and review their full transaction history of downloads and music funds, thereby eliminating questions/information requests.
