MARKHAM, Ontario, Canada - Kiosk entertainment provider Power Interactive Media Inc. (OTCBB:PIAM) has completed the test of its baby photo kiosks at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and is looking toward the future with the enthusiasm of a new father.
Company officials said the two kiosks, installed a year ago at Clark Memorial, generated revenue of $20,385 during a recent six-month period. The kiosks take photos of newborn babies in a package that is sold to family members.
Power Interactive retains ownership of the kiosks and pays the host hospital 40 percent of revenue generated by each machines. In January, Power Interactive vice president of sales and business development Mike Parker said the company was selling on average $55 worth of photos per order (See story: The Power switch remains on).
The revenue generated during the trial period was encouraging enough for Power Interactive to develop expansion plans. The company is considering 12 different hospitals for kiosk placement, and at least five kiosks will be deployed by the end of March. Power officials plan to have between 75 and 100 kiosks deployed by the end of the year.
Based in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Power Interactive also has a line of digital photography kiosks that superimpose personal images on photos of celebrities and noted athletes. The company disclosed in its third-quarter 2001 earnings report in December that it has lost $18,259,624 since its incorporation in 1994 while generating revenue of $42,966, and needs additional funding to continue as an ongoing operation.
