REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The U.S. Postal Service has approved a test of a browser-based self-service kiosk program by Neopost Online Inc. and Northrop Grumman Corp.
Neopost Online is the provider of proprietary technology it calls "Simply Postage". It is integrating the software with Northrop Grumman's kiosks, equipped with a touch-screen monitor, credit card reader and printer.
Neopost plans to place the kiosks in high-traffic retail areas, though it didn't indicate when or where the first kiosks would be installed. The kiosks will print postage on demand and offer advantage over traditional stamp machines. Postage prints on self-adhesive labels, and the stamps are not preprinted.
