Position Imaging Inc., a provider of package logistics and asset tracking, announced in-room scanning for its Smart Package Room platform, according to a press release. The feature leverages the same hand-held scanning process couriers are familiar with to automatically assign packages to residents in multifamily communities — improving accuracy and compliance and streamlining their work.
The system uses a display screen mounted outside the Smart Package Room entrance, where couriers scan labels for package registration. Once the system "reads" the package label and the courier or concierge places the package in the room, the system automatically tags the package location with the resident, then notifies the resident their package has arrived and sends a QR and PIN code for room access.
The resident enters the PIN code or scans the QR code to enter the room. Audio cues or labels guide the resident to the package location.
"The Smart Package Room is quickly becoming the must-have amenity residents expect in multifamily communities — and we just made it faster and easier than ever for couriers," Ned Hill, founder and CEO of Position Imaging, said in the press release. "Now couriers have no learning curve to use our Smart Package Room — any questions about how to use our system have been removed by replicating the same process they have been trained to do for years."
