Polo Ralph Lauren unveils interactive window at Chicago store

November 19, 2006

CHICAGO — Luxury retailer Polo Ralph Lauren is launching an interactive window at its Michigan Avenue flagship store, allowing customers to shop from outside the store, 24 hours a day.

In addition to shopping, consumers can choose from a variety of features such as ski tips by Rich Burkley, general manager Aspen Skiing Co., live weather and ski conditions, interactive trail maps, a profile of the world-renowned Aspen Ski Patrol, style advice on layering for various ski conditions, footage from the latest ski videos and a "First Tracks" offer, where consumers can sign up to access the mountain before it is open to the general public.

The Chicago interactive window follows the company's successful launch of an interactive window at the Ralph Lauren's Madison Avenue store, where similar technology was employed to create a U.S. Open tennis-themed window.

"Following the success of our New York window, we wanted to explore other exciting uses of this technology," said David Lauren, senior vice president of Polo Ralph Lauren. "This is an incredible and dynamic way for customers to experience the advanced precision of the RLX line."

The touchscreen is powered by transparent foil applied directly to the glass; a rear projection screen is then used to complete the 67-inch through-window touch shopping experience.

Further connecting this interactive shopping experience within the Aspen Community, Ralph Lauren will be introducing touchscreen kiosks inside of its Aspen store where customers can experience the same features as the Chicago store window.

The Michigan Avenue window-shopping installation will be accessible to the public from November 20th to February 19th. Orders placed from the interactive window are fulfilled by polo.com.
