Pittsburgh suburb considers replacing parking meters with kiosks

August 27, 2019

Officials in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, a Pittsburgh suburb, are considering switching from coin meters to kiosk stations for nearly 200 parking meters, according to an Observer-Reporter report.

The kiosks would provide motorists with more payment options, including cash, credit cards and mobile apps, Mayor Dave Rhome said.

Rhome said he spoke with parking authority officials in Bridgeville, which recently switched to parking kiosks. He also met with a representative of Mobile Smart City, which services Bridgeville's kiosks, and they are willing to present a kiosk to Canonsburg lawmakers to educate them about the kiosks.
