Pie Networks buys rights to more than 400 kiosks

September 10, 2003

VICTORIA, Australia -- Internet kiosk operator Pie Networks has purchased the assets of British company Public Internet Services Ltd., which is in liquidation. Included in the assets are rights to run 444 kiosks in the UK, Germany and Cyprus.

According to an article on SMH.com.au, Pie Networks will wholly own 181 of these kiosks. Two-thirds of the deployed kiosks are located at British Ministry of Defense sites, the article said.

Seven sales and engineering staff employed by the UK company will stay on to expand and service the European network, while management of the network will be handled by Pie Networks Perth-based helpdesk.

The acquisition means Pie Networks will be managing more than 1,100 kiosks.
