BOOKHAM, U.K. -- Photo-Me International said it is ready to deploy digital photo "vending machines" alongside many of its 26,000 photo booths worldwide.
The company has already completed successful trials of its Digital Media Kiosks at 265 sites in mainland Europe, according to an article in The Guardian.
To use the kiosks, users need to plug the memory chips of their digital cameras or mobile phones into the machines for an instant print, the article said.
Photo-Me recently announced a 10-fold hike in profits for the six months to Oct. 31, fueled by the uptake in digital technology.
Chief Executive Officer Serge Crasnianski said, "We believe that the widespread adoption of, and developments in, digital photography offer huge opportunities to Photo-Me International for sustained profitable growth."
