Photo kiosk company encouraged by early returns

July 9, 2004

TEL AVIV, Israel - Kiosk video messaging service Millennium Star Ltd., which recently launched its video e-mail kiosk service in selected locations over three continents, plans to install several more units in coming months.

The VideoEmail kiosks were launched in Spain, Italy, France, Australia, and South Africa. These installations followed an initial test in Israeli shopping centers and Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport. Company officials said thousands of users successfully sent video e-mail messages in the past few months using the service.

"We anticipate that the international public will embrace our kiosks with the same enthusiasm as did the visitors in our Israeli sites, since all these locations are frequented by international and local visitors with common interests," Shabi Finz, Millennium Star general manager, said in a news release.

The kiosks created 30-second video clips using MPEG-4 compression technology. The videos are sent as attachments to conventional e-mails. The compression technology creates a regular 30-second video at less than 500KB, according to company officials.

Millennium Star is currently offering the VideoEmail service to marketing partners either as a software package or as an all-in-one kiosk solution.
