Paystar's kiosk group grows with acquisition

LODI, Calif. - PayStar Communications Corp. will acquire Telad International Inc. of Portland, Ore. in an effort to expand its presence in the Northwest and grow its kiosk division.

PayStar operates eight divisions that distribute telecom and financial services to retailers, including Internet kiosks. Telad, which operates more than 1,000 payphone locations in Oregon and Washington, recently expanded its payphone services to include public Internet access kiosks.

PayStar expects to grow its pay telephone locations to more than 10,000 by the end of 2001, including 6,000 new locations. The acquisition is expected to bring in an additional $2 million in annual revenues to PayStar. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
